The Blues Train - Shake Rattle 'n' Roll

The Artists

Ash Grunwald
Melbourne’s Ash Grunwald has stripped-back blues to its essence. With thick rhythmic blues grooves and deep commanding vocals, Ash is reinventing blues for a modern audience.

His debut solo acoustic album, Introducing... is a spare recording of voice, guitar and stomp box, that interprets the tradition with a contemporary attitude. Influenced by blues artists such as Howlin’ Wolf, Junior Kimbrough and Collard Greens & Gravy, this album was named No. 1 Album for the Year 2002 (Cue Sunday Herald Sun - Lee Howard).

Winning the Best New Talent Award and Male Vocalist Of The Year at The Australian Blues Awards (The Chain Awards) 2003, and Album of The Year and Emerging Talent Award for the Victorian Blues Awards 2002, Ash Grunwald is continuing to make his mark on the Australian blues scene.
